During our “Miss & Mister Camiguin Action Geckos 2011 – A Tribute to Mindanao” Staff-Party on Dec 21st we collected around P 25’000 donations from our guests and ourself.
Friends and guests from all over the world donated as well. Until now we collected and transfered PHP 61,330. We support the Island Kids Foundation in Cagayan de Pro as well as the German Doctors Commitee. Both organisations are since longtime located and working in Cagayan de Oro. They use the donations to buy urgently needed goods and give them directly to the victims and families. Island Kids are cooking as well and distributing the food to those who have no possibility to cook anymore.

We are deeply shocked of the grief and the destruction the Tropical Storm “SENDONG” left behind. Camiguin has been spared. We are very, very thankful! Eva & Frederik did already some Intro-Dives in Australia… here they finally made their PADI Open Water Diver. And successfully of course!
Now they can enjoy diving as they wanted it. But they not only celebrated the PADI Open Water Diver License, but Frederik spend his birthday here as well.

Again in 2011 GMA Network was on Camiguin Island for the Lanzones Festival. And the GMA Crew didn’t miss an Adventure Tour with Camiguin Action Geckos. This year we invited them to the Rappelling & Canyoning at the big Katibawasan Waterfall. In the beginning Lorena, Ardee und Co. needed some courage – trekking, climbing, abseiling, sliding, jumping…. but they did a great job and had fun BIG TIME!

The 3 swiss guys just had a look here spontaneously and then registered for a PADI Rescue Diver at Camiguin Action Geckos.
But pretty quickly we realized that they where not only water resistant, but drink resistant as well… the final scenario was done under hard conditions with currents and waves.
A good test for the party animals! At the end you did well. Congratulations and have fun diving.
It’s already the 3rd time that Julia & Heinz from Flower Beach in Anda visited us. This time again with guests from the Flower Beach Resort.
First they dived White Island, then they went on the small sandy island. Afterwards for lunch they had a Fish-BBQ at Camiguin Action Geckos. And in the afternoon they made teir usual Island Tour to the Katibawasan Waterfalls and Ardent Hot Springs.
Julia & Heinz will leave the Flower Beach unfortunately, looking for other adventures…. we will miss you guys! But we are sure to meet again!

We already talked about Melanie & Andi: See Here. But that was, as announced, not all. Inspired by the proposal of Stefan in April Andi contacted us and asked for a special idea for his marriage proposal to Melanie. Said, done. Andi made the proposal underwater.
Both learned diving together and that was the culmination of their joint passion. Melanie was deliberately mislead, as the said dive was as well the Navigation Dive of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. Innocently she followed her compass navigation underwater. Or tried at least. Even Andi swam a perfect square although very nervous – good job. To bring Melanie to the place where the proposal should happen we terminated the exercise prematurely. Still unaware she was following Andi to the lava wall of Old Volcano until suddenly she could see the message on a previously fixed banner. Andi grabed a small treasure chest out of his BCD containing the ring for Melanie. Normally communication underwater is pretty pragmatic and brief, but both of them succeeded to understand each other perfectly.
Back on the boat there was some Champagne waiting as well as more surprises during the rest of the day.
Dear Melanie, dear Andi – it was very special for the whole team of Camiguin Action Geckos, that you Andi trusted us enough to let us organize this special day – your engagement.
We will tell that story pretty often! We wish you all the luck for your future – stay as you are.
P.S. Congratulations to the parents who got the news finally as well. We “had to” keep silent until now – wasn’t easy though .

Around 1 month ago we had the chance to meet Sabine & Detlef. Because 4 weeks ago they flew in with AviaTour from Cebu as guests at Camiguin Action Geckos. And we will not forget you anytime soon.

All five guests from Switzerland had different lengths of stay at Camiguin Action Geckos, but all had one thing in common: a lot of fun and relaxation.
One PADI Open Water Diver Course was done by Sabine, Amina & Thomas. Pascal is already a diver and was refreshing his knowledge with a Scuba Review.
And Sabine discovered all snorkeling areas and enjoyed the underwater world enormously. They all liked it and maybe we will meet again? We would be pleased to – on that note: “Uf Wiederluege…”

Andi & Melanie are staying since some days at Camiguin Action Geckos and had some nice events already… more on this in a later post.
Sunday was party day: Birthday of Andi. Starting with songs and cake for breakfast, then a romantic picknick at the “secret” cold sources, cockfight in the afternoon, for the sunset a boat to White Island and in the evening Melanie organized a Beach Dinner for Andi. A successful day!

Annika & Dennis have been guests at Camiguin Action Geckos for about 10 days. But they made more activities then others can do in 3 weeks.
Advanced Open Water Diver (Dennis) & Rescue Diver-Course (Annika), Mantigue Day-Trip, Tuasan Falls Trekking, Snorkeling at Kabila White Beach (Giant Clams Farm), Public Market in Mambajao, Rappelling/Canyoning and some dives. On the first day the two arrived at the resort at 11.00am and at 2:00pm they were already at the introductory dive. And 4 days later: PADI Open Water Diver. Nice that you were here with us. 4 days Camiguin, 4 days diving. Both came to relax some days at Camiguin Action Geckos and “only” wanted to make an Intro Dive.
Deniz was addicted from the very first moment….. from then on there was only: diving, diving and… diving. In the meantime Alicia enjoyed the calm and took it easy…. well done.

Elke & Johann spend around 2 weeks in September at Camiguin Action Geckos. And if there is one thing that the two of them are NOT: Couch Potatoes. Definitely not!
We can hardly remember a day where Elke & Johann spend some cosy hours in the hammock. Hibok-Hibok, Waterfalltrekking, Mantigue Island, hot & cold springs, Volcano Station, White Island – everything was worth exploring. And just “en passant” they made 10 dives – each. We hope you don’t need holidays from holidays now …
Us and the whole staff is looking forward to see you again in 2012!
Crystal and Ivan did exactly that and made an intro dive @ Camiguin Action Geckos.
For Crystal it was already the 2. intro dive, but Ivan as well mastered the adventure brilliantly.

Dives in Old Volcano and White Island, a lunch at Camiguin Action Geckos plus an island tour to the Katibawasan Falls and Ardent Hot Springs ….. a great day with some new encounters, a fantastic underwater world and under the sunny sky of Camiguin.

Pia, our regular and friend of the family was visiting us again. Happy and relaxed she could finish her PADI Advanced Open Water Diver @ Camiguin Action Geckos.

In May Karin, Reini, Anita, Dietmar and Co. handed the daily bar potential on a plate (see here: http://www.camiguin.ph/lang/de/beer-rhum-coke-or-rhum-coke-or-beer.htm).
Now Melanie, Jeannett, Jan & Roy took the challenge and already pre-booked a nice beer package in advance. But not enough with this…. they even arrived with a special t-shirt. What to say? The exact amount of the consumed SMB’s will stay – for now – a secret. But we can already say this: you have to drink a lot to be fit to hold a beer… ehmm… candle to.
September has brought us wonderful weather!
During the day: bright sunshine, blue skies, hot temperatures.
Evening: Clear skies and only now and then a thunderstorm to cool down the heat of the day.

PS: No, there are no Chocolate Hills in Camiguin. No, the picture is not a photomontage. Beside some pictures from Camiguin Sabine & Susanne have send us the one from the Chocolate Hills in Bohol as well. The Chocolate Hills can be best admired from the air. With good weather the flight from Cebu to Camiguin (or vice versa) can be performed directly above the natural wonders of our neighbor island. The dimensions (50km2) of the conical hills are incredibly impressive from above. Contact us for sightseeing and/or direct flights from Cebu to Camiguin.

Manuela and Stefan visited us last year for the first time and we have been already “threatened” that they would come back. They have kept their word. Exactly one year later the two met again at Camiguin Action Geckos.

Claus and Mads have been already in 2010 on Camiguin, “by accident”. They stayed for 2 weeks at Camiguin Action Geckos and then spontaneously decided to learn to dive with us. They so much liked the island that again in 2011 they came all the way from Denmark to stay with us again and lodged in the Cottage 1.
It was a highlight again for us to have you here. We had lots of fun and have really enjoyed your company! We hope to see you in 2012 to welcome you for a third time on Camiguin. Vi ses!
Camiguin Action Geckos evolved almost as a “diver-factory”.
Since before yesterday Lorena also owns a PADI Open Water Diver certificate. Unfortunately she could escape and did not follow the subpoena for our official photo shoot. So she just send us an innocent vacation picture – but appearances are deceptive.
