PADI Advanced Open Water Diver: Jenny
April 28th, 2012Jenny came to visit Camiguin Action Geckos a couple of times already. This time she was here to do the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course with our instructor Wing. Successfully finished – of course!
But on top of that: 1 day after the course Power-Jenny was again ready at 06.00am. Why? More on this in our next post.

Honeymooners Daphne & Tobias
April 25th, 2012Romance doesn’t stop at Camiguin Action Geckos…. Daphne & Tobias got married in March. And where do they spend their honeymoon? Obviously at Camiguin Action Geckos!
Aside from that Tobias was refreshing his diving skills and Daphne went with him to White Island. They spend around 2 weeks with us and really enjoyed their stay.

Another Way of Diving
April 19th, 2012No – at Camiguin Action Geckos it’s not winter in the summer neither it’s winter in winter. On Camiguin Island it’s summer the whole year through. Normally…. except when Marianne & Hans send us pictures from ice-diving in Klöntal instead of a souvenir picture of Camiguin. If you think that we will not publish you on our website because of this: you’re wrong!
We miss you in the morning for the “Early Breakfast”, in the evening at the Bar and in between as well.

Final Report: PHP 103’819 for Help Mindanao!

Together with your help Camiguin Action Geckos could donate more then PHP 100,000 for the victims of SENDONG (Washi) in Mindanao. PHP 11,300 went to German Doctors Commitee in Cagayan de Oro and PHP 92,400 went to Philippine Island Kids Foundation. Busy Holy Week
April 9th, 2012Edy, Merkur & Stefan made an early booking for a PADI Open Water Diver Course on Easter at Camiguin Action Geckos. No sooner said than done. But that was not enough…
Edy and Stefan got excited by diving. So both continued immediately with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. There was not much time left for an Island Tour.
A good reason to come back. See you for the Rescue Diver, deal?
Happy Easter
April 8th, 2012No – we didn’t dig up the garden all together today, Sunday… but our staff did an Easter egg hunt. After that and the following egg tapping they where rewarded with small prices and snacks. With this in mind and with beautiful sunshine from Camiguin, incl. a swiss guest named Lindt (no joke…): Happy Easter!
Diving with Ute & Nicole
April 4th, 2012Again we had a Nicole with a small Diving-Trauma because of a bad experience in the past. We quickly fixed that, Nicole got over her fears and made a Scuba Review with us. And it was that successful that together with Ute she continued diving the whole week. Was easy, right Nicole? Great that you had the courage and trusted us. Have fun diving!

March 25th, 2012Nicole & Andi have been guests at Camiguin Action Geckos for nearly 3 weeks. Nicole lost her fear for diving and made a Scuba Review. Since then she felt like a fish in the water and went diving a lot with us. Both have been on Mantigue Island, had a Lechon Baboy, did the Rappelling/Canyoning at the Katibawasan Waterfalls, conquered the Hibok-Hibok and explored the rest of the island. At the end they had a hard time leaving.
But “balik, balik” (Visayan: come back) 2013, right? Cottage 2 will be reserved for you. Then we will attack the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and the PADI Rescue Diver, deal?

Repeater Renate & Wolfgang
March 15th, 2012Renate and Wolfgang have been guests again in 2012 at Camiguin Action Geckos. With beautiful weather they could do a lot of activities.
They explored the island together and have been on Mantigue Island for diving and snorkeling. We saw Wolfgang a lot with his Underwater Camera and he left us some great pictures of Kilambing White Island and our Muck Divesite (Seahorse City). Thanks a lot dear Wolfgang. We’re looking forward to see you again in 2013!
Salamat kaayo Iris & Philipp
March 9th, 2012Iris and Philipp have been guests at Camiguin Action Geckos for about 2 weeks. On the program was diving, diving, diving and diving again. But they’ve seen a lot else on the island.
At the end it was hard for them to leave Camiguin and for us at Camiguin Action Geckos to let them go. But: after the holidays is before the holidays.

Flexibility-Check for Anica & Jonathan
February 16th, 2012Anica and Jonathan stayed with us for about a week. The two swiss guys arrived here spontaneously and without pre-booking and because of this they had to be flexible with their accommodation.
And that’s what they where! Starting at the Beach Cottage, then the massage-beds on the terrace followed the Traveler Rooms and finishing in the Beachfront Bungalow. But beside the constant room change they where active as well and moving around on Camiguin as well. Jonathan made a Discover Scuba Diving-Program at Camiguin Action Geckos. It was nice meeting you!

December 23rd, 2011During our “Miss & Mister Camiguin Action Geckos 2011 – A Tribute to Mindanao” Staff-Party on Dec 21st we collected around P 25’000 donations from our guests and ourself.
Friends and guests from all over the world donated as well. Until now we collected and transfered PHP 61,330. We support the Island Kids Foundation in Cagayan de Pro as well as the German Doctors Commitee. Both organisations are since longtime located and working in Cagayan de Oro. They use the donations to buy urgently needed goods and give them directly to the victims and families. Island Kids are cooking as well and distributing the food to those who have no possibility to cook anymore.

New Airplane for MisSeaExpress

GMA Network @ Camiguin Action Geckos
November 26th, 2011Again in 2011 GMA Network was on Camiguin Island for the Lanzones Festival. And the GMA Crew didn’t miss an Adventure Tour with Camiguin Action Geckos. This year we invited them to the Rappelling & Canyoning at the big Katibawasan Waterfall. In the beginning Lorena, Ardee und Co. needed some courage – trekking, climbing, abseiling, sliding, jumping…. but they did a great job and had fun BIG TIME!
@ Lorena & Ardee: we really enjoyed having you here and looking forward to climb the Hibok-Hibok with you guys next year.

PADI Rescue Diver Pascal x 2 and Stephan
November 25th, 2011The 3 swiss guys just had a look here spontaneously and then registered for a PADI Rescue Diver at Camiguin Action Geckos.
But pretty quickly we realized that they where not only water resistant, but drink resistant as well… the final scenario was done under hard conditions with currents and waves.
A good test for the party animals! At the end you did well. Congratulations and have fun diving.
Visit of Friends from Anda – bye, bye Julia & Heinz
November 24th, 2011It’s already the 3rd time that Julia & Heinz from Flower Beach in Anda visited us. This time again with guests from the Flower Beach Resort.
First they dived White Island, then they went on the small sandy island. Afterwards for lunch they had a Fish-BBQ at Camiguin Action Geckos. And in the afternoon they made teir usual Island Tour to the Katibawasan Waterfalls and Ardent Hot Springs.
Julia & Heinz will leave the Flower Beach unfortunately, looking for other adventures…. we will miss you guys! But we are sure to meet again!

THE PROPOSAL – Melanie & Andi
November 13th, 2011We already talked about Melanie & Andi: See Here. But that was, as announced, not all. Inspired by the proposal of Stefan in April Andi contacted us and asked for a special idea for his marriage proposal to Melanie. Said, done. Andi made the proposal underwater.
Both learned diving together and that was the culmination of their joint passion. Melanie was deliberately mislead, as the said dive was as well the Navigation Dive of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. Innocently she followed her compass navigation underwater. Or tried at least. Even Andi swam a perfect square although very nervous – good job. To bring Melanie to the place where the proposal should happen we terminated the exercise prematurely. Still unaware she was following Andi to the lava wall of Old Volcano until suddenly she could see the message on a previously fixed banner. Andi grabed a small treasure chest out of his BCD containing the ring for Melanie. Normally communication underwater is pretty pragmatic and brief, but both of them succeeded to understand each other perfectly.
Back on the boat there was some Champagne waiting as well as more surprises during the rest of the day.
Dear Melanie, dear Andi – it was very special for the whole team of Camiguin Action Geckos, that you Andi trusted us enough to let us organize this special day – your engagement.
We will tell that story pretty often! We wish you all the luck for your future – stay as you are.
P.S. Congratulations to the parents who got the news finally as well. We “had to” keep silent until now – wasn’t easy though .

Sabine & Detlef – Around the World

Gruezi from Switzerland
November 9th, 2011All five guests from Switzerland had different lengths of stay at Camiguin Action Geckos, but all had one thing in common: a lot of fun and relaxation.
One PADI Open Water Diver Course was done by Sabine, Amina & Thomas. Pascal is already a diver and was refreshing his knowledge with a Scuba Review.
And Sabine discovered all snorkeling areas and enjoyed the underwater world enormously. They all liked it and maybe we will meet again? We would be pleased to – on that note: “Uf Wiederluege…”

Sunday was party day: Birthday of Andi. Starting with songs and cake for breakfast, then a romantic picknick at the “secret” cold sources, cockfight in the afternoon, for the sunset a boat to White Island and in the evening Melanie organized a Beach Dinner for Andi. A successful day!
